Understandably, WWE may be cautious with Sonya's potential rise. However, with those NXT call-ups already botched, it's up to Sonya Deville to be the next stage of advancement for the Women's Evolution that finally moves WWE away from its dependency on "The Four Horsewomen." Having them carry the Women's Division is entirely played out, which is why the fans are leaning towards newer superstars like Shayna Baszler and Rhea Ripley. It's clear the fans want some fresh faces to carry the Women's Division, and Sonya Deville could fulfill that role.Īs much talent as Charlotte, Bayley, Sasha and Becky still have, "The Four Horsewoman" are becoming stale. Fans were outraged at Charlotte's defeat over Rhea Ripley and shocked at Becky Lynch's victory over Shayna Baszler. With the current state of the women's roster, WWE needs "The Daddy." After WrestleMania 36, three of the four "Four Horsewomen" of the WWE were holding championships, and the WWE Universe didn't exactly celebrate this feat. Sonya has had time to learn and grow, and this recent feud with Mandy showcases her character development even more. Paige's retirement ended Absolution, but Sonya and Mandy Rose continued their union as Fire and Desire, competing for the WWE Women's Tag Team Titles. Sonya spent over two years in WWE's Tough Enough and NXT before being called up to the main rosters in 2017 as a member of Paige's faction, Absolution. Sonya Deville still has room to grow, but she's not exactly untested either. That's not to say that WWE should throw a championship on Sonya, or have her main event the next WrestleMania, or even to say she should replace Becky Lynch. With "The Man" taking a leave of absence, WWE needs to embrace the "daddy" and capitalize on her newfound popularity that's waiting to explode. Her promos, wrestling and merchandise can all revolve around her "daddy" character. Sonya now has a character and a nickname that WWE can easily market, giving her everything she needs to be a top star in WWE. Yet, despite all of her improvements and her involvement in a major storyline on SmackDown, something was still missing.įortunately, she appears to have found that missing element. Her mic work has significantly improved, from above average to excellent, which only enhances her already impressive in-ring abilities. Sonya has always had significant talent in the ring, and she's only blossomed further since switching up to singles competition. Considering how "The Man" caught fire and launched the career of Becky Lynch, Sonya's "Daddy" gimmick has all the potential to do the same for her. This is a clear case of criminal intent and a lack of parental supervision.Sonya Deville's Twitter post lit up social media, and the WWE Universe has gravitated to the idea of "Daddy" becoming her new nickname. Coupled with her recent split from Mandy Rose, this new nickname allows Deville to market herself in a way she never had before. There is no excuse or justification for the brutal and ultimately fatal beating of a 2-year-old child by a grown man. "We are deeply saddened by this tragic death and hope that the guilty parties are brought to justice. WWE has issued a statement saying that the guilty parties must be punished: The couple were living together and it had been only six days before the incident took place. They have also discovered text messages, wherein Gamanche has said that he caused the bruises by "playing too rough" with his girlfriend's child. Police have recovered photos sent by Gamanche to Cook that showed bruises on Addie's face and forehead on 13 May. Gamache has denied carrying out the abuse, but has said that the child may have suffered from a head injury from a wrestling move that included striking her head on a concrete wall near his bed. Police have said that the mother knew about the abuse and did not stop it because she was afraid of losing custody of her child and endangering her relationship with her boyfriend. Richard Gamache Jr, 24, has been booked for abuse and neglect of a child, while the mother, Cheyenne Cook, 19, has been charged with endangering the welfare of a child.
